About The Project
In 2022, a quiet transformation began at Kalba Mall — turning a compact space into a destination with its own identity and atmosphere. LAKE Café was never intended to be just another coffee shop; it was envisioned as an experience where visitors feel a sense of calm, comfort, and visual delight from the very first step inside.
Within a modest area of 102 m², the challenge was to make every square meter meaningful. From the earliest design stages, the concept focused on simplicity, warmth, and material honesty — allowing architecture, lighting, and texture to come together as one continuous story.
Italian microcement was chosen as the primary material, flowing seamlessly across floors and feature walls. This uninterrupted surface creates a quiet visual rhythm, making the space feel larger, softer, and more immersive than its physical boundaries suggest.
At the heart of the café stands the service counter — not just a functional element, but a crafted architectural feature. Built with masonry works and finished by hand, it carries the engraved LAKE identity directly into its surface, turning branding into part of the built environment itself.
Lighting became the invisible storyteller of the space. Carefully shaped recesses in the walls hold hidden LED illumination, casting warm layers of light that shift throughout the day. By evening, the café transforms — glowing softly, revealing depth, texture, and atmosphere in a way that feels almost cinematic.
Behind the calm visual language lies a precise layer of engineering. A chilled water air-conditioning system was carefully integrated, with full coordination between MEP and interior works to ensure comfort without compromising clean architectural lines or visual purity.
The final result is a space where design, engineering, and identity merge seamlessly. LAKE Café is not just a place to sit and drink coffee — it is a carefully composed environment designed to be felt, not just visited. A space that invites people to slow down, experience the atmosphere, and carry the feeling with them long after they leave.
